The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) assured the public that there is no cause for alarm over recent kidnapping incidents in the country.
This statement comes in the wake of the reported abduction and killing of Filipino-Chinese businessman Anson Que.
The bureau urged the public, especially the Filipino-Chinese community, to remain calm, emphasizing that the government is taking appropriate action.
NBI Director Jaime B. Santiago acknowledged that some Filipino-Chinese organizations have expressed concern over the incidents.
However, Santiago assured the community that there is no reason to worry, as the Department of Justice, Philippine National Police, and other relevant agencies are leading the response to resolve the issue.
He also gave his assurance that swift action is being taken to address the reported kidnapping cases.
Santiago highlighted the role of the NBI’s Anti-Kidnapping Task Force, which he said is central to tackling the growing concern of kidnapping in the country.
He explained that the task force plays a key role in enhancing coordination among various government agencies.
According to Santiago, the Anti-Kidnapping Task Force enables effective information sharing between the NBI, PNP, and the Department of Justice in the ongoing investigations.
