Local government units across Luzon have declared class and work suspensions in anticipation of the approaching Typhoon Uwan.

The suspensions were announced to ensure public safety as the tropical cyclone is expected to bring heavy rains and strong winds starting Sunday.

Among the affected areas are provinces in Northern and Central Luzon, where preemptive measures have been activated by disaster response teams.

Typhoon Uwan, currently outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility, is forecast to intensify and possibly make landfall early next week.

PAGASA has warned of widespread rainfall, flooding, and possible landslides, prompting LGUs to suspend face-to-face classes and non-essential work.

Residents are advised to monitor official weather updates and follow evacuation protocols if necessary.

The Department of Education has coordinated with local officials to implement remote learning alternatives where feasible.

Government offices involved in emergency response and essential services will remain operational during the suspension period.

Private companies are encouraged to adopt work-from-home arrangements to minimize exposure to hazardous weather conditions.

The suspensions aim to reduce risks and allow communities to prepare for the storm’s impact.
