The Department of Education (DepEd) emphasized that bullying has no place in schools as it reaffirmed its commitment to promoting safe learning spaces for students.

In an official statement, DepEd said it is taking a firm stance against bullying by ensuring immediate action on reported cases and continuous efforts to foster safe and supportive environments for all learners.

The agency reiterated its commitment to working closely with parents, teachers, and communities to protect the well-being of students across the country.

During a Senate hearing on Tuesday, Education Secretary Sonny Angara reported that 1,314 incidents of campus violence were recorded between November 24, 2022 and April 7, 2025, with half of the cases involving student perpetrators.

DepEd noted that it regularly conducts comprehensive assessments to ensure that school-based Child Protection Committees remain active and effective.

The agency has also expanded its mental health services in schools and revised the implementing rules and regulations of the Anti-Bullying Act and Safe Spaces Act to address modern challenges, such as online harassment and peer violence.
