MANILA – The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has released a detailed rainfall outlook for the next three days as Typhoon Pepito continues to approach the country, bringing the threat of widespread heavy to torrential rains.
Rainfall Forecast for Today (November 16, 2024)
- Intense to Torrential Rainfall (>200 mm): Catanduanes can expect rainfall exceeding 200 mm, which may cause severe flooding and landslides.
- Heavy to Intense Rainfall (100-200 mm): Residents in Camarines Sur, Northern Samar, and Eastern Samar should brace for significant rainfall, potentially leading to dangerous conditions.
- Moderate to Heavy Rainfall (50-100 mm): The provinces of Camarines Norte, Albay, Sorsogon, Samar, Leyte, Biliran, and Masbate will also experience considerable rainfall that could exacerbate existing hazards.
Rainfall Forecast for Tomorrow (November 17, 2024)
- Intense to Torrential Rainfall (>200 mm): Quezon and Aurora are expected to receive torrential rain, posing a high risk of flash floods and landslides.
- Heavy to Intense Rainfall (100-200 mm): Areas including Camarines Norte, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, and Pangasinan are likely to face significant rainfall.
- Moderate to Heavy Rainfall (50-100 mm): Metro Manila and the provinces of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Bataan, Pampanga, Marinduque, Cagayan, Isabela, Ifugao, Mountain Province, Kalinga, Benguet, La Union, Tarlac, Zambales, and Ilocos Sur should prepare for heavy rains that may lead to localized flooding.
Rainfall Forecast for Monday (November 18, 2024)
- Moderate to Heavy Rainfall (50-100 mm): Pangasinan, La Union, Ilocos Sur, and Zambales will continue to experience heavy rains, prolonging flood threats and landslide risks.
PAGASA warns that mountainous and elevated areas may receive higher rainfall totals, which could worsen the impact, especially in regions that have already experienced significant rainfall.
The public and disaster risk reduction and management offices are urged to take all necessary precautions to safeguard lives and property.
PAGASA Regional Services Divisions will issue localized Heavy Rainfall Warnings, Thunderstorm Advisories, and other severe weather information as needed.
