The Department of Education (DepEd) has announced an increase in the vacation service credits for teachers, doubling the current allowance to 30 days.

This initiative aims to provide teachers with more flexibility to offset absences due to illness or personal reasons, as well as recover salary deductions during vacation periods.

According to DepEd, the new policy grants 30 days of vacation service credits annually to current teachers with at least one year of service and newly hired teachers who are appointed within four months of the start of the school year.

In addition, newly appointed teachers, whose employment was confirmed within the four-month period after classes began, are entitled to 45 days of vacation annually.

The vacation service credits allow teachers to maximize their time off while ensuring that their benefits and compensations remain intact, giving them much-needed respite for personal and professional growth.
