The Philippine National Police (PNP) is implementing necessary security measures in anticipation of a two-day transport strike scheduled for September 14-15, organized by the MANIBELA group to protest the continuous increase in oil prices.

According to PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., police units have been placed on heightened alert in areas expected to be protest convergence points, including parts of Philcoa in Quezon City.

Police chiefs and territorial units have also been instructed to coordinate closely with local government units and other government agencies to maintain security and ensure orderly crowd management.

The PNP has also established coordination efforts to provide assistance to commuters who may be stranded on the roads due to the transport stoppage.

Nartatez stated that the national police understand the grievances of the transport groups, as even their own personnel who drive are affected by the continuous increase in fuel prices.

The PNP anticipates that the planned protests will remain peaceful and orderly, but additional security forces are prepared in case of unexpected emergencies or other incidents.
