House prosecutor and Bicol Saro Party-list Rep. Terry Ridon challenged Vice President Sara Duterte to personally attend the Senate impeachment trial this Monday, September 14, coinciding with the commencement of evidence presentation for Article II, which addresses allegations of unexplained wealth.
According to Ridon, it is crucial for the Vice President to be present as the House prosecution lays out documents and testimonies concerning the alleged wealth of the Duterte family, which reportedly cannot be justified by their lawful income.
Throughout the three-month trial and 23 hearing dates, Duterte has not personally attended the impeachment proceedings, leading to repeated challenges from prosecutors to appear before the Senate impeachment court.
Meanwhile, the prosecution is expected to present over 1,800 financial documents and testimonies from several resource persons for Article II, including records related to bank transactions and other financial interests of the family.
