BALAMBAN, CEBU ā Authorities are on the hunt for a man who allegedly bludgeoned and fatally stabbed a poultry worker at Red Cave Poultry Farm in Brgy. Biasong, Balamban on Sunday, September 22, 2024.
The victim, identified as Marjun Andaya, a resident of Negros and a stay-in worker at the farm, was killed following a violent altercation.
The suspect, Wenbie Delima, another poultry worker from Tabango, Leyte, is now the subject of an intense manhunt.
According to Police Lt. Col. Julius Garcia, chief of the Balamban Police Station, the motive behind the attack was personal grudge.
The two men, both intoxicated, had been drinking at a disco event in Brgy. Biasong. Their argument escalated into a physical confrontation early the next morning.
Despite efforts by their coworkers to intervene, Delima threatened them and continued his attack.
He first struck Andaya in the head with a barbell before repeatedly stabbing him with a kitchen knife.
Lt. Col. Garcia revealed that Delima fled the scene and managed to return to Tabango, Leyte, before local authorities could apprehend him.
In cooperation with the Municipal Police Station in Tabango, Leyte, police conducted follow-up operations but the suspect quickly escaped.
Further investigation disclosed that Delima has a pending warrant of arrest for murder in Tabango, Leyte, and a theft case in Bacoor, Cavite.
Authorities recovered a kitchen knife and the barbell from the crime scene.
