A 59-year-old woman died while two drivers sustained minor injuries in a motorcycle collision at Sitio Dilaan, Poblacion, Candijay, Bohol.
The fatality was identified as Nora Ampong, with her 32-year-old driver known by the alias “Guard,” both residents of Purok 8, Poblacion, Candijay.
The other parties involved were identified as “Boy,” a 52-year-old construction worker from Barangay Panas, Candijay, and “Dong,” the 35-year-old dump truck driver from Barangay Bayong, Guindulman.
Candijay Police Chief PCapt. Marvin Ching told Star FM Cebu that Ampong and her driver were heading to the public market when a speeding motorcycle collided with them from the national highway.
Investigations revealed that “Boy,” who was allegedly intoxicated and not wearing a helmet, lost control of his motorcycle due to overspeeding.
The impact caused Ampong to be thrown into the opposite lane of the municipal road, where she was accidentally run over by Dong’s dump truck.
Ching added that the driver reportedly did not notice the victim, resulting in the truck running over her head.
Ampong was immediately rushed to Candijay Community Hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival.
The two suspects are now in police custody and may face charges under Article 365 for Reckless Imprudence Resulting in Homicide.
Authorities reminded motorists to avoid driving under the influence and to ensure vehicle safety to prevent similar incidents.
