A woman killed in Maguindanao del Norte was brutally stabbed to death by her boyfriend using a broken bottle inside a lodging house in Parang, authorities confirmed.
According to the Parang Police, the suspect is estimated to be between 21 and 28 years old, around 5’5” in height, slim, and was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and black shorts.
Initial investigations revealed that the victim and her boyfriend had been drinking inside their rented room before the crime took place.
An argument reportedly broke out between the two, leading to the suspect smashing a bottle, a commotion that was heard by staff at the lodging house reception.
A lodging house employee later saw the suspect leaving the establishment covered in blood but did not suspect anything unusual.
Moments later, employees noticed a strong smell of blood and decided to check the room, where they discovered the lifeless body of the woman with multiple stab wounds and exposed intestines.
Police suspect that the motive behind the crime was the victim’s decision to end her relationship with the suspect.
Family members of the victim expressed outrage upon discovering that the lodging house had no logbook and its CCTV system was non-functional during the incident, according to a Star FM Cotabato interview.
Parang PNP, in coordination with the 1041st Regional Mobile Force Battalion, has launched a hot pursuit operation to track down and arrest the fleeing suspect.
