Ako-Bicol Party-list Rep. Jil Bongalon, a member of the 11-member House prosecution panel, believes that Vice President Sara Duterte’s camp is now in panic mode.
Bongalon pointed to the recent Supreme Court petition seeking to halt the impending impeachment trial in the Senate as clear proof of their desperation.
According to him, this move could either be a mere publicity stunt or a strong indication of anxiety within Duterte’s camp.
He explained that the impeachment process is clearly outlined in the Constitution—it requires endorsement by at least one-third of the House members, verification, and recorded votes from each congressman.
Bongalon emphasized that impeachment is a political process, not a judicial one, and the Senate serves as a quasi-judicial body in the proceedings.
He accused Duterte’s camp of using every possible tactic to delay the trial and prevent the public from seeing the evidence against her.
Bongalon challenged the Vice President to stop stalling and face the trial, stating that the Filipino people deserve to know the truth.
