Veteran Actress Gloria Romero Passes Away at 91

Veteran actress Gloria Romero, one of the most celebrated icons of Philippine cinema, passed away at the age of 91.

Romero, born Gloria Anne Borrego Galla on December 16, 1933, in Denver, Colorado, USA, started her illustrious career at 16 and became a household name in Philippine showbiz.

She starred in numerous acclaimed films, including “Alaalang Banal” (1958), “Ikaw Ang Aking Buhay” (1959), “Iginuhit ng Tadhana” (1965), where she portrayed First Lady Imelda Marcos, and “Tanging Yaman” (2000), which earned her a FAMAS Best Actress award.

Her outstanding performances garnered her numerous accolades throughout her career, including multiple FAMAS Awards, the Gawad Urian Lifetime Achievement Award, and the Star Awards for Television’s Hall of Fame.

She was also recognized as one of the best actresses of her generation.
