Three Dead, One Missing as Typhoon Julian Ravages Ilocos Norte

LAOAG CITY – Three individuals have been confirmed dead, and one remains missing in Ilocos Norte following the destruction caused by Typhoon Julian.

According to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, the body of Wilfredo Calija, 62, a resident of Brgy. 2, Poblacion, Pasuquin, was found floating amid heavy rains.

Additionally, a senior citizen in Batac City lost their life after being swept away by floodwaters.

Another fatality was reported at A.P. Santos Elementary School in Laoag, where evacuee Jamal Mambuay, 35, succumbed to a heart attack triggered by fear of rising flood levels.

Authorities also reported that 30-year-old Bryan Carlo Bulong Judalena from Brgy. San Roque, Paoay, remains missing after returning home amid the typhoon’s harsh weather conditions.

Ilocos Norte has been declared under a state of calamity as the province reels from the effects of Typhoon Julian.
