CAUAYAN CITY – Three individuals riding a motorcycle were killed after being crushed by a dump truck carrying soybeans in Barangay Bangot, Nueva Vizcaya.
The victims, identified as Russel Pascua, Suena Bation, and Fergielyn Blance, were private employees of a fast-food chain in Bambang.
They were declared dead on the spot due to severe injuries caused by the crash.
In an interview with Bombo Radyo Cauayan, Police Major Frederick Ferrer, the chief of Bambang Police Station, stated that the accident occurred early yesterday morning.
The incident involved a dump truck loaded with soybeans, driven by John Paul Pascual, a 32-year-old resident of Lubao, Pampanga. Pascual was en route to Echague, Isabela, for a delivery.
According to Pascual, the truck lost air pressure while navigating a downhill, curved section of the road, causing him to lose control of the steering and brakes.
Due to the heavy load of soybeans, the truck tipped over, crushing a motorcycle carrying three individuals.
The truck driver is now undergoing inquest proceedings and will face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property.
Authorities continue to remind motorists to exercise caution on the roads to avoid accidents and unforeseen incidents.
