Teachers set to receive 2023 performance-based bonus before year-end

THE Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has confirmed that teachers under the Department of Education (DepEd) will receive their long-awaited Performance-Based Bonus (PBB) for Fiscal Year 2023 before the end of 2025.

The assurance was made during the House deliberations on DBM’s proposed 2026 budget. ACT Teachers Party-list Rep. Antonio Tinio asked about the timeline for releasing the PBB, to which Nueva Ecija 1st District Rep.

Mikaela Angela Suansing responded that the Special Allotment Release Order (SARO) is expected to be issued before the year ends.

Suansing explained that a technical working group (TWG) is finalizing a resolution that will determine the eligibility of DepEd personnel for the bonus.

Once the resolution is released, the TWG will conduct a final assessment of eligible employees. DepEd will then have one month to submit the list of teachers qualified for the incentive.

Following submission, the DBM will issue the SARO and corresponding Cash Advances (CA) to facilitate payment.

A TWG meeting is scheduled on September 30, with representatives from the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA), Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDEV), Department of Finance (DOF), DBM, and the Office of the President expected to finalize the resolution.
