In an interview with Bombo Radyo Vigan, PLt. Benito Ponce, Deputy Chief of the Sto. Domingo Municipal Police Station, revealed that the SUV was headed north while the van was coming from the opposite direction.

The SUV reportedly veered into the lane of the van, causing a collision, and both vehicles crashed into a concrete road guard on the west side of the highway.

Although neither driver nor their passengers sustained injuries, they were taken to the Ilocos Sur District Hospital in Magsingal for a medico-legal examination.

Initial investigations suggest the SUV driver may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.
