The Social Security System (SSS) and the Baguio City local government signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to ensure social security coverage for 525 job order (JO) and contract of service (COS) workers.

The agreement, signed at the Baguio Convention and Cultural Center by SSS President and CEO Rolando Ledesma Macasaet and Baguio City Mayor Benjamin B. Magalong, integrates these temporary government workers into the SSS’ flagship program, the KaSSSangga Collect Program (KCP).

Key officials present at the MOA signing included SSS Senior Vice President for Luzon Operations Group Antonio S. Argabioso, SSS Executive Vice President for Branch Operations Sector Voltaire P. Agas, Baguio City Accountant Fredda Jimenez, and Assistant Human Resource Management Officer Edith Dawaten.

Macasaet emphasized that the partnership allows JO and COS workers, who are not covered by the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), to access SSS benefits by enrolling as self-employed members.

As SSS members, they will be entitled to a range of benefits, including those for sickness, maternity, disability, retirement, and death. They also gain access to loan programs such as salary and calamity loans.

In addition to regular benefits, workers will receive coverage under the Employees’ Compensation (EC) Program for work-related incidents, including sickness, injury, and death.

Macasaet also encouraged workers to invest in the voluntary MySSS Pension Booster to strengthen their retirement fund.

Under the agreement, the Baguio City LGU will collect monthly SSS contributions from JO and COS workers through a salary deduction scheme.

Contributions will be remitted to the SSS Baguio Branch, with monthly amounts determined based on the workers’ Monthly Salary Credit.

The current minimum monthly contribution is P570, while the maximum is P4,230, including SSS, EC, and Mandatory MySSS Pension Booster contributions.
