The Philippines is currently experiencing significant weather disruptions due to the combined effects of Severe Tropical Storm Bebinca and the Southwest Monsoon. As of 3:00 PM today, the severe weather conditions are impacting various regions across the country, with both systems contributing to the widespread forecasted rain and storms.

Severe Tropical Storm Bebinca, located approximately 1,885 kilometers east of Northern Luzon, is moving northward at 35 km/h with maximum sustained winds of 100 km/h and gusts reaching up to 125 km/h. The storm’s trough is expected to influence weather patterns across Luzon, creating a complex weather situation.

In the areas affected by the Southwest Monsoon, including Palawan, Occidental Mindoro, Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, BARMM, Zamboanga Peninsula, and SOCCKSARGEN, monsoon rains are predicted to cause possible flash floods and landslides. These regions are bracing for moderate to heavy rainfall, which could lead to dangerous conditions in low-lying and mountainous areas.

The Bicol Region, MIMAROPA, and other parts of the Visayas and Mindanao are also under the influence of the Southwest Monsoon, resulting in cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms. Similar to other regions, these areas may experience flash floods or landslides due to the anticipated moderate to heavy rains.

In contrast, the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Quezon, and Aurora are experiencing cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms caused by the trough of Severe Tropical Storm Bebinca. The same concerns of flash floods and landslides apply here, given the potential for heavy rains.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon are experiencing partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, driven by the trough of Bebinca. The possibility of flash floods and landslides remains a concern, particularly during severe thunderstorms.

Coastal and wind conditions are also varied across the country. The eastern sections of Visayas and Mindanao are facing moderate to strong winds from the southwest, with coastal waters expected to be moderate to rough. Conversely, Palawan, other parts of Visayas, and Mindanao will experience light to moderate winds, and coastal waters here will be slightly to moderately rough. The rest of Luzon will see light to moderate winds with coastal waters remaining slight to moderate.

Temperature extremes for the day have ranged from a minimum of 26.0°C early in the morning to a maximum of 30.6°C in the afternoon. Humidity levels have fluctuated significantly, from a low of 65% at noon to a high of 92% in the early morning.
