On Tuesday, the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations, and Gender Equality, led by Senator Risa Hontiveros, lifted the contempt order against Shiela Guo, the alleged sister of dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo.
Senator Hontiveros directed the Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms to transfer Shiela’s custody to the Bureau of Immigration, following the Bureau’s mission order issued against her.
Shiela was previously cited in contempt by the Senate for failing to attend earlier hearings related to the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations (POGO) investigation.
She has been detained in the Senate since her arrest in Indonesia, along with Cassandra Li Ong.
During the Senate hearings, it was revealed that Shiela Guo was listed as the corporate secretary, chief finance officer, and treasurer in several family-owned businesses.
Shiela consistently denied any knowledge of the alleged criminal activities involving her family.
Shiela is currently facing money laundering charges, alongside her sister Alice Guo and other individuals.
