Scouts Join Philippine Army in Honoring Nation’s Departed Heroes in Taguig

The Philippine Army, joined by Boy and Girl Scouts, honored departed national heroes, former presidents, soldiers, and other notable figures at a special flaglet-setting and candle-lighting ceremony at Libingan ng mga Bayani in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City, on the evening of October 31, 2024.

The synchronized tribute commemorated the “well-lived” lives of soldiers, national artists, scientists, and former state leaders who rest at the heroes’ cemetery.

The Army’s Grave Services Unit (GSU) also provided support and security for families paying their respects in advance of All Saints’ Day, managing a site that currently holds 53,824 interred remains as of October 21, 2024.

In preparation for an anticipated increase in visitors, the Philippine Army deployed explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) and K9 units, along with signal personnel, military police, and medical teams as part of Task Force Pag-alaala.

In previous years, PA soldiers assisted 84,300 visitors at the cemetery in 2023 and 43,709 in 2022.

The Army leadership has reassured the public of full support for the Philippine National Police to maintain peace and security during the Undas 2024 observance nationwide.
