LEYTE 1st District Representative Martin Romualdez vowed his full cooperation as a resource person in the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) investigation into alleged irregularities in flood control projects.
Romualdez, who previously served as House Speaker, said he is ready to share any information he has, even though he was not part of the bicameral conference committee that approved this year’s national budget.
“I am here to cooperate fully and help uncover the truth,” Romualdez said in a statement during his appearance before the ICI.
“Wala akong itinatago at walang dapat itago. While I was not part of the bicameral conference committee, whatever I know, I will share,” he added.
The former House leader reaffirmed his commitment to transparency and accountability, saying he aims to help expedite the ICI’s investigation.
Romualdez had earlier been implicated in reports of corruption involving flood control projects.
A former soldier and ex-staff of Ako Bicol Party-list Representative Zaldy Co alleged that he delivered suitcases of money to both Co and Romualdez.
Romualdez later resigned as House Speaker, saying it was to preserve public trust, but maintained that he had committed no wrongdoing.
