KALIBO, Aklan — Residents of Brgy. Cawayan in New Washington expressed their gratitude to Bombo Radyo and the local government after the swift resolution of stagnant water issues in their area.

Mrs. Jeneth Ibabao particularly thanked New Washington Mayor Jessica Panambo and Punong Barangay Clyde Custodio for their attention to their concerns.

The local government unit (LGU) of New Washington deployed a backhoe to the area on Friday to address the problem.

Previously, Mrs. Ibabao had voiced her desire for immediate action due to health concerns, particularly regarding the risks of dengue and leptospirosis.

The stagnant water posed significant challenges for students and other residents, forcing them to wade through the water to access the road.

They also reported previous complaints to a former barangay official, but no actions were taken to resolve the issue.

The accumulation of stagnant water was exacerbated by the blocked drainage systems, preventing proper water flow to the river, especially during the rainy season, resulting in further water pooling.
