President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has reiterated his administration’s commitment to modernizing the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to make it a world-class institution.
Speaking at the joint graduation ceremony of the Major Services Officer Candidate Course (MS OCC), Marcos emphasized the importance of transforming the AFP into a source of national pride and a cornerstone of national security.
The MS OCC is a one-year program designed for baccalaureate degree holders, preparing them to serve as Second Lieutenants in the Philippine Army (PA) and Philippine Air Force (PAF), or as Ensigns in the Philippine Navy (PN).
Marcos pledged to enhance the AFP’s training programs, modernize its equipment, and ensure it is equipped to face present and future challenges.
He underscored the role of unity in creating an AFP that embodies resilience, alliances, and technological excellence.
The President also urged the graduates to fulfill their mandates with dedication and excellence.
This year’s Major Services Officers’ Candidate Course produced 610 graduates, including 362 cadets for the Philippine Army’s Katarakian Class 61-2024, 173 for the Philippine Air Force’s Sigmandigan Class 2024, and 75 for the Philippine Navy’s Mangisalakan Class 42-2024.
