President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. returned to the Philippines on Sunday evening after a four-day working visit to Osaka, Japan, according to an official statement from Malacañang.
He arrived at around 5:55 p.m., following a series of engagements that included a dialogue with the Filipino community in Osaka and the formalization of deals with Japanese business leaders.
In a social media post, Marcos announced a joint initiative between Kanadevia Corporation and Philippine Ecology Systems Corp. for a waste-to-energy project aimed at managing waste and generating clean energy.
The President also shared that the Tsuneishi Group will construct the world’s first methanol dual-fueled KAMSARMAX bulk carrier in Cebu—a move expected to generate jobs and position the Philippines as a frontrunner in green shipping.
He added that stronger ties were built with Japan’s tourism leaders to attract more visitors to the Philippines and expand job opportunities for Filipino workers.
A meeting with the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency opened new avenues for collaboration in space technology to enhance disaster monitoring, aid farmers, and boost community safety.
Accompanying the President on the trip was First Lady Louise “Liza” Araneta Marcos.
He also made two visits to the Philippine Pavilion at Expo 2025, currently taking place in Osaka.
