PNP to review the Tanauan mayor’s murders in 2018

THE Philippine National Police is reopening up the case investigation into the 2018 killing of Tanauan City, Batangas Mayor Antonio Halili, after retired police colonel and former Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) general manager Royina Garma’s affirm that an officer of the police was responsible.

“The PNP will delve deeper into this case because the incident occurred over five, six years ago,” PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo said in a press briefing on Tuesday.

“The CIDG (Criminal Investigation and Detection Group) is now in the process of retrieving, restudying, and assessing where the investigation led,” she stated.

Halili, who was known for displaying drug suspects and other criminals about Tanauan City, was fatally shot at a flag-raising ceremony at city hall.
