The Philippine Army’s 525th Combat Engineer Battalion (525CEB) will join the Philippine Inter-Agency Humanitarian Contingent (PIAHC) to assist earthquake victims in Myanmar.
Col. Michael Rey L. Bautista, Commanding Officer of the 525CEB, led the send-off ceremony on April 1 at Villamor Air Base, Pasay City.
The PIAHC contingent comprises multiple agencies, including the 525CEB, the 505th Search and Rescue Group of the Philippine Air Force (SRG-PAF), the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), the Department of Health (DOH), and the Office of Civil Defense (OCD).
The team will support search and rescue operations and deliver critical humanitarian aid to affected communities.
The 525CEB previously participated in international disaster response efforts, including the relief mission in Türkiye following a devastating earthquake in February 2023.
The Philippine Army remains confident in the 525CEB’s capability to conduct complex rescue operations. Their expertise in locating and extricating survivors will be instrumental in Myanmar’s disaster response efforts.
