The Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP-Laban) has filed a petition before the Supreme Court seeking a manual recount of senatorial votes from the 2025 midterm elections.

Atty. Israelito Torreon, joined by PDP-Laban senatorial candidate Atty. Jimmy Bondoc, filed a motion for leave to submit a supplemental petition for mandamus to initiate the vote recount.

The party stated in its petition that it is entrusting the Supreme Court with the discretion to implement a manual count in accordance with prevailing election laws.

PDP-Laban cited the Automated Election System Act and the Omnibus Election Code as the legal foundation for their call for a recount.

According to Section 31 of Republic Act No. 9369, traditional manual vote counting is mandated to ensure free, fair, and credible elections.

The petition also cited alleged irregularities, including the discovery of equipment such as Starlink transmission devices and solar panels in a private residence in Brgy. Buhangin, Davao City, which they claim suggests a possible conflict of interest.

The party also highlighted discrepancies between actual ballots and voting receipts, as well as the exclusion of over 17 million senatorial votes from the tally due to overvotes.
