PDP-Laban Condemns VP Sara Impeachment, calling it a hasty and politically driven move by the House of Representatives against the Vice President.

In a statement, the party led by former President Rodrigo Duterte denounced the impeachment as a blatant display of dirty politics and a disregard for the sovereign will of the Filipino people.

PDP-Laban emphasized that VP Sara Duterte secured 32.2 million votes in the 2022 elections, making her the most-voted candidate in Philippine history.

The party accused members of the House of Representatives of rushing the impeachment process to divert public attention from the country’s worsening situation.

It also alleged that the move was intended to damage VP Duterte’s chances of running for a higher position in the 2028 elections.

PDP-Laban pointed out that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. himself had urged the House to drop the impeachment complaint and focus on addressing the concerns of ordinary Filipinos.

The party questioned why lawmakers were not instead prioritizing issues such as peace and order, graft and corruption, and poverty, which have fueled public frustration and discontent.

PDP-Laban urged voters to carefully choose their candidates in the upcoming Senate elections, as the Senate will ultimately decide VP Duterte’s fate in the impeachment trial.

The impeachment hearings are scheduled to take place in June, following the May 2025 elections and the resumption of Congress.
