Patient Stabs Nurse to Death, Injures Hospital Worker

A 51-year-old nurse was killed after being stabbed multiple times in a hospital in Tagbilaran City, Bohol, on Thursday, October 17, 2024.

The incident occurred at 9:45 AM inside the medical ward of Bohol Doctors Hospital in Barangay Bool.

The suspect was identified as 31-year-old Marlito Linguis, a resident of Purok 4, Barangay Magsaysay, Sevilla, Bohol.

The victim, identified only as “Marie,” a 51-year-old resident of Barangay Dao, Tagbilaran City, sustained fatal stab wounds to the chest and neck.

A 21-year-old utility worker, Francis Justiniare, also suffered injuries after being stabbed in the abdomen but survived the attack.

In an interview with Bombo Radyo Cebu, Police Lt. Col. John Kareen Escober, head of the Tagbilaran City Police Station, stated that the suspect was admitted to the hospital on Monday, October 14, for stomach pain and was about to be discharged when the incident happened.

The suspect reportedly stabbed the nurse and the utility worker after an alleged disagreement over a conversation with the nurse.

Lt. Col. Escober added that the suspect had a history as a drug surrenderer, having been arrested during the nationwide Oplan Tokhang campaign in 2016.

The murder weapon, a pair of medical scissors, was taken from the nurse’s station by the suspect.

The Tagbilaran City Police are preparing charges of murder and physical injury against the suspect.
