Pasig fire displaces 500 families

PASIG CITY – A fire broke out in a residential area in Barangay Manggahan, Pasig City, on Tuesday night, affecting around 500 families and damaging approximately 100 homes.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) reported that the fire started around 6:30 p.m. and quickly escalated to the third alarm, according to FO3 Christopher Girao of the Fire and Arson Investigation Unit.

Over 50 fire trucks were dispatched to battle the blaze, which took more than four hours to extinguish. No injuries or casualties were reported.

Initial investigations suggest the fire originated from a resident cooking with wood. The affected families have been relocated to two evacuation centers, where they have received essential supplies, including food, medical aid, and sleeping kits.
