Time to rummage through your closets for the best serene-sky shade you’ve got.

Global color authority Pantone has chosen pure simplicity for 2026. Cloud Dancer (PANTONE 11-4201) has been officially unveiled as its much-anticipated Color of the Year.

“A lofty white neutral whose aerated presence acts as a whisper of calm and peace in a noisy world. PANTONE 11-4201 Cloud Dancer symbolizes a calming influence in a society rediscovering the value of quiet reflection,” Pantone shares on Instagram. “A billowy white imbued with serenity, it invites true relaxation and focus, allowing the mind to wander and creativity to breathe.”

They added that Cloud Dancer “drifts between light and ethereal, a living calm that invites renewal, vision in serenity and creative release.”

Since 1999, the Pantone Color Institute has selected a new color annually.

Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the institute, said in an interview that the color is associated with new beginnings and a fresh start.

Meanwhile, Vice President Laurie Pressman mentioned in a 2023 interview that the annual hue announcement is meant to engage the design community and color enthusiasts worldwide, sparking conversations about the beauty of color.

Last year, Pantone named Mocha Mousse (PANTONE 17-1230) as the defining color of 2025, while Peach Fuzz was selected for 2024.

Every year, people around the world take inspiration from the Color of the Year, not only in creating new fashion trends in clothing, but also in hairstyles, home décor, and even product design.

Cloud Dancer, a natural white shade, is indeed a bold yet effortless choice to welcome a new year.
