Approximately one million people in China have been forced to evacuate after being hit by what is considered the strongest typhoon of the year—Typhoon Yagi.

The typhoon brought winds reaching up to 245 kph near its center, along with heavy rains.

Due to the storm’s impact, residents were compelled to leave their homes and stay in evacuation centers. In Hainan Province, over 420,000 people have been relocated.

In Guangdong Province, more than half a million people had to seek refuge in evacuation centers.

Yesterday, the typhoon made landfall in Hainan, and within hours, it ravaged the entire province.

The storm left behind widespread power outages in many communities, uprooted trees and power poles, caused building collapses and landslides, and triggered sudden flooding in homes.

Several people have also been reported injured and are currently being treated in hospitals.

Typhoon Yagi is the same storm known as “Enteng,” which initially struck the Philippines earlier this week, affecting hundreds of thousands of people and leaving 16 confirmed dead.
