The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) of Naga has announced the activation of evacuation centers and the enforcement of forced evacuation in areas deemed highly vulnerable to Typhoon Uwan.
According to the latest advisory, the city government is prioritizing the safety of residents in flood-prone and landslide-susceptible barangays as the storm intensifies.
CDRRMO personnel have begun coordinating with barangay officials to identify families in danger zones and facilitate their transfer to designated shelters.
The evacuation centers have been stocked with food, water, and essential supplies, with support from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and local volunteers.
Forced evacuation will be implemented in compliance with disaster protocols, especially in communities near riverbanks, coastal areas, and steep slopes.
Residents are urged to cooperate with authorities and avoid delaying relocation efforts to ensure their safety and prevent emergency rescues during peak storm conditions.
Typhoon Uwan (international name: Fung-Wong) is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility within the day, bringing heavy rainfall and strong winds to Bicol and Eastern Visayas.
As of 4:00 AM, PAGASA reported the storm’s location at 985 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas, with maximum sustained winds of 130 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 160 kilometers per hour.
Signal No. 2 has been raised in parts of Bicol, including Camarines Sur, with warnings of flooding, landslides, and storm surges.
Local government units have been instructed to activate emergency response teams and maintain 24/7 monitoring of weather developments.
The city government emphasized that forced evacuation is a life-saving measure and not a punitive action, and that evacuees will be provided with adequate shelter and care.
