Multi-Vehicle Collision in Ilocos Sur Leaves One Dead

A four-vehicle collision in Barangay Calaoa-an, Candon City, Ilocos Sur, left one person dead on Thursday.

The fatal accident involved a tricycle driven by Regie Galigaro Gramaje, 43, a resident of San Nicolas, Candon City.

Other vehicles included a Toyota Corolla driven by Eric Tadeo Lardizabal, 35, a security guard from Barangay Magsaysay, Tagudin.

An Isuzu Altera SUV, driven by Leonardo Tolentino Maloom, 70, of Novaliches, Quezon City, was also part of the collision.

Additionally, a Ford Everest SUV driven by Catalino Joson Olimon Jr., 57, from Lupao, Nueva Ecija, was involved.

CCTV footage revealed that the tricycle, heading north, was rear-ended by the car behind it.

The impact caused the tricycle driver to lose control and hit an oncoming Altera SUV.

The collision’s force detached the tricycle’s sidecar, which then hit the opposite lane, crashing into the Ford Everest heading south.

The tricycle driver sustained severe head injuries and multiple fractures and was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Authorities are reviewing the CCTV footage to determine liability and further details of the accident.
