The Philippine Red Cross conducted a Multi-Incident Simulation Exercise today, April 28, at the Quezon City Memorial Circle as part of earthquake preparedness efforts, coinciding with the 34th Biennial Convention of the PRC.

Despite experiencing heavy rainfall this afternoon, the earthquake drill resumed immediately after the weather cleared. The drill started past 3:30 PM and was attended by volunteers, officials, and other participants.

During the drill, several scenarios that could occur during disasters were demonstrated, such as administering first aid to injured individuals.

According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), the Philippines could experience a magnitude 7.2 earthquake if the so-called “The Big One” strikes.

Simultaneous drills were also conducted in various parts of the country, including a Mt. Kanlaon eruption scenario in Negros Occidental, a landslide caused by heavy rains in Maco, Davao de Oro, a flash flood scenario in Olongapo City, and an earthquake with fire scenario in Baseco, Manila.
