Motorcyclist Dies in Collision with Kuliglig

A motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a kuliglig along San Emilio-Quirino National Road, Barangay Cayus, Quirino, Ilocos Sur, at 12:10 PM on January 9, 2025.

The victim, identified as Lordan Palacio Domas, 28, a resident of Baclingayan, Tubu, Abra, was driving a black-and-white Honda XR motorcycle.

The kuliglig driver was identified as Camilo Borja Dacanay, 64, a farmer from Barangay Cayus, Quirino.

According to PLt. Jhonny Alibin, Officer-in-Charge of the Quirino Municipal Police Station, the motorcycle was speeding southbound when it collided with the oncoming kuliglig.

Domas suffered a fatal head injury as he was not wearing a helmet. He also sustained multiple body injuries.

Dacanay, the kuliglig driver, sustained minor injuries and was brought to Quirino Primary Health Facility by responders from the Quirino Police, Fire Protection Bureau, and MDRRMC.

Domas was declared dead by Dr. Precious Alfonso while undergoing treatment.

Authorities are urging motorists to consistently wear protective gear and exercise caution on the road to prevent similar tragedies.
