Mother and Daughter Shot Dead by Drunken Partner in Jealousy-Fueled Tragedy

A mother and her teenage daughter were shot dead inside their home in Barangay Valladolid on the night of December 11, 2024, allegedly by the mother’s partner.

The victims were identified as 38-year-old Jennive Abella and her 14-year-old daughter, Val.

Police named the suspect as Jethor Lapiña, Abella’s boyfriend, who was reportedly intoxicated at the time of the incident.

According to initial police investigations, an argument broke out between the couple, leading to neighbors hearing gunshots moments later.

Reports indicate that Abella was shot in the head, while her daughter was shot in the chest, resulting in their deaths on the spot.

Neighbors described Lapiña as generally quiet but noted that he exhibited violent tendencies when under the influence of alcohol.

In an interview, Ramer Babao, a relative of the victims, revealed that the couple had been arguing frequently in recent days, allegedly due to the suspect’s jealousy.

Babao also shared that the suspect had confided his suspicions about Abella’s pregnancy, questioning whether he was the father, which could have fueled their conflicts.

Carcar police continue their investigation and are searching for the firearm used in the crime.

Lapiña was swiftly arrested following the incident and is currently detained at the Carcar Police Station.
