Former unified world super bantamweight champion Marlon Tapales is ready for his fight against Saurabh Kumar of India.
The match will take place today at the Olympic Stadium in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, for the World Boxing Council (WBC) Asia crown.
Tapales is currently leading in four sanctioning bodies as he aims for the world title vacated by Naoya Inoue in the featherweight division.
Inoue won the WBA and IBF belts from the 32-year-old Tapales last December. In May, Tapales also defeated Nattapong Jankaew of Thailand with a first-round victory held in his home country.
Tapales, a native of Tubod, Lanao Del Norte, started his professional boxing career in 2016 when he won the World Boxing Organization bantamweight world title over Pungluang Sor Singyu. He has won 38 fights, with 4 losses, out of 42 total fights.
