President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has ordered the continued presence of the Philippines in Escoda Shoal following the pull-out of the BRP Teresa Magbanua.

This was emphasized by National Maritime Council Spokesperson Alexander Lopez, who noted that the President issued strict directives to maintain the country’s presence in the area, with new personnel set to be deployed.

Lopez clarified that the presence in the area is not only physical but also strategic, ensuring ongoing surveillance and control.

He dismissed claims that the withdrawal of BRP Teresa Magbanua has reduced the country’s presence in Escoda Shoal.

According to Lopez, various measures can be implemented to monitor the area, including aerial patrols, technical surveillance capabilities, and assistance from allied nations.
