Manila political aspirants file candidacy; COMELEC await big players

The Commission on Elections assured that they are gearing up for the big political names in the City of Manila that will file their Certificates of Candidacy for the 2025 National and Local Elections.

According to COMELEC Officer 4 Manila 3rd District Atty. Jericho Jimenez, at present, they have not been informed yet on the schedule of the much-anticipated candidacy filing of former Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, as well as incumbent City Mayor Honey Lacuna.

Jimenez added that the first and second day of the COC filing was smooth and peaceful in the city.

Based on the data, about 26 city councilor aspirants and one mayoral hopeful have filed their candidacies.

The official also reminded the candidates that only three companions can enter inside the venue.

The supporters and the rest of their colleagues, on the other hand, can stay outside the venue.

On the second day of COC filing, the grandson of former Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim, incumbent City Councilor Niño Dela Cruz, has also filed his candidacy for his second term.

Incumbent City Councilor Pamela Fugoso of the 3rd District was also present during the filing for her last term.

Famous PBA player Paul Alvarez also filed his COC as Manila District 3 Councilor.

Meanwhile, a few independent candidates also filed their candidacy, all vying to serve Manila.
