Magsasaka Partylist Nominee and Former ABB Commander Arrested by Police

Magsasaka Partylist nominee and former commander of the Alex Boncayao Brigade, Lejun dela Cruz, was apprehended by Pasig City police.

According to his lawyer, Atty. General Du, Dela Cruz went to Cainta, Rizal on Sunday morning. As he entered his vehicle around 11 AM, he was approached by a man in civilian clothes.

Another man on a motorcycle fired two shots at him, prompting Dela Cruz to drive away quickly.

Upon reaching Manggahan, Pasig, he collided with the motorcycle and another car chasing him until the pursuers identified themselves as police officers.

Dela Cruz raised his hands and was handcuffed. After three hours, Dela Cruz was found with bruises on his face, knees, and elbows.

His executive secretary, Maya Capalad, stated that they found Dela Cruz detained at Manggahan police station at 4:30 PM.

They were worried as they searched police stations from Antipolo to Pasig to locate him.

Dela Cruz was taken to Marikina police station, where he had a warrant of arrest for a murder case dating back to 1992.

His camp plans to file charges against the police for the shooting incident.

Marikina chief of police, PCol. Erwin Dayag, explained that the officers were in civilian clothes as part of the intelligence group.

He also denied that they harmed Dela Cruz and claimed they had body camera footage to prove the events. Dela Cruz is set to be transferred to Las Pinas Police station.
