ILOILO CITY – Former Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog is applying for the reactivation of his voter registration following his recent return to the Philippines after nearly seven years abroad.

Mabilog’s comeback has drawn significant attention, particularly amid ongoing speculation about his potential return to Iloilo City politics.

In an exclusive interview with Bombo Radyo, Atty. Jeric Jucaban, Mabilog’s legal counsel, confirmed that the former mayor’s application is in line with his return to the country on September 10, 2024.

Jucaban mentioned that a hearing will be scheduled before Mabilog’s request for voter reactivation can be granted. This legal step has fueled widespread speculation that Mabilog may re-enter the political scene.

Meanwhile, he is expected to be among the invited resource persons for the Quad Committee House Probe set to resume this Thursday.

Mabilog arrived at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 aboard a Cathay Pacific flight from New York on September 10.

Upon his arrival, he was met by operatives of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), where he voluntarily surrendered to NBI-NCR personnel.

According to NBI Director Jaime Santiago, Mabilog was served a warrant of arrest for violations of RA 3019 (Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act) and the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards.

He posted bail and is now on temporary liberty.
