The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has suspended the license of the SUV driver involved in a fatal accident at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on Sunday morning.
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) also ordered the driver to undergo mandatory drug testing following the deadly incident.
According to the LTO, the driver’s license has been temporarily suspended for 90 days while the investigation is ongoing.
Under the Anti-Drunk and Drugged Driving Act of 2013, all drivers involved in accidents are required to submit to chemical testing, including drug screening.
Failure to comply with testing requirements may result in the revocation of the driver’s license and the imposition of fines.
The crash claimed the lives of a 28-year-old man and a five-year-old child after the SUV plowed through the departure area of NAIA Terminal 1.
Three other individuals sustained injuries and were immediately brought to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The LTO has also issued a show-cause order to the registered owner of the vehicle and directed the driver to surrender his license without delay.
