A low-pressure area (LPA) near Borneo, formerly Typhoon Querubin, is being monitored by PAGASA and has the potential to develop into a tropical cyclone in the coming days.
The LPA was last spotted 1,575 kilometers west of Western Mindanao, near Borneo.
There is a possibility that the LPA could intensify into a tropical cyclone and move back towards Palawan.
The trough or extension of the LPA’s clouds will bring cloudy to overcast skies with light to occasionally heavy rains over Zamboanga Peninsula, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi.
The rest of Mindanao can expect fairer weather with only chances of isolated rain showers.
The shear line, the convergence of the cold Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) and easterlies from the Pacific, continues to affect Southern Luzon and Visayas, with effects expected to persist until next week.
Cloudy skies with light to heavy rains are expected in CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Visayas, and Dinagat Islands, with possible effects on adjacent areas.
The strengthened Northeast Monsoon is now affecting almost the entire Luzon area.
Cloudy skies with light rains and gusty winds are expected in Metro Manila, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Aurora, Nueva Ecija, and Bulacan.
Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with occasional light rains. No new tropical cyclones are expected to directly affect the country until the weekend.
