The Vice Mayor of Legazpi City has officially assumed the role of Acting Mayor after the Ombudsman issued a one-year suspension order against the incumbent mayor.

In an exclusive interview with Bombo Radyo Legazpi, Vice Mayor Bobby Cristobal confirmed that he received a formal letter from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) reminding him of the need to take over as City Mayor.

Cristobal expressed mixed emotions, feeling sadness over the suspension of his close friend, Mayor Gie Rosal, and fear due to the immense responsibility of serving as mayor.

However, the official assured the public that services in the city will continue, and city programs will be implemented. He also aims to foster good working relationships with the city employees.

Meanwhile, Cristobal plans to pay a courtesy visit to the suspended mayor to hear her thoughts on the matter.

It is recalled that Mayor Geraldine Rosal was suspended for one year by the Ombudsman following a complaint regarding her appointment of Engr. Clemente Ibo to the Provincial Government of Albay despite his position in the City Engineering Office.
