The truck driver, Alyas JR, 38, is a resident of Leon.

According to Police Senior Master Sergeant Willy Aquidado, chief investigator of the Leganes Municipal Police Station, the victims were traveling from Leganes back to Iloilo City when their motorcycle crashed into the rear of the truck carrying a backhoe. The truck was about to enter a warehouse at the time of the collision.

The victims sustained severe head injuries and multiple body wounds.

Both were rushed to separate hospitals, with the driver taken to the Western Visayas Medical Center and the passenger to the Metro Iloilo Hospital and Medical Center. However, both were declared dead on arrival.

Initial investigations revealed that the motorcycle was traveling at high speed, which may have caused the driver to fail to notice the truck ahead.
