Pro-China Filipino vloggers labeled as traitors by Lanao del Sur Representative Zia Alonto Adiong, who strongly condemned their role in spreading Chinese disinformation on the West Philippine Sea.
Adiong, who also chairs the House Ad Hoc Committee on Marawi Rehabilitation and Victims Compensation, denounced the growing number of Filipino content creators allegedly echoing Beijing’s propaganda.
The lawmaker described these vloggers as traitors and undeserving to be called Filipinos.
He emphasized that these vloggers seem to have forgotten that it is the Filipino people who are directly affected by China’s aggression and coercive actions in the West Philippine Sea.
Adiong also urged authorities to hold pro-China Filipino vloggers accountable for their actions and their role in spreading misleading narratives.
During a hearing of the House Tri-Committee, Meta officials—formerly known as Facebook—confirmed that they had acted on a post made by blogger Mark Lopez, which contained false claims.
In the flagged post, Lopez alleged that the Philippines used water cannons against the China Coast Guard in the disputed waters of the West Philippine Sea.
Lopez is one of four bloggers cited in contempt and ordered detained for ten days by the Tri-Com of the House of Representatives.
