The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) has reported five phreatic eruption events at Taal Volcano within the past 24 hours. These eruptions were accompanied by a steaming plume rising to a height of 2,100 meters, drifting towards the northeast and east-northeast of the volcano, which is located in Batangas.

In addition to these eruptions, six volcanic tremors were recorded, each lasting between 2 to 10 minutes. The Sulfur Dioxide (SO2) flux was measured at 1,354 tons per day, indicating continuous volcanic activity.

Phivolcs also observed upwelling of hot volcanic fluids in the Main Crater Lake, a sign of ongoing abnormality.

Ground deformation was detected in the Taal Caldera, with temporary swelling observed in the northern and southeastern parts of Taal Volcano Island.

Despite these signs of activity, Taal remains at Alert Level 1, signaling the possibility of further volcanic activity. Phivolcs advises caution, as the situation may develop.
