Fatal Collision in Sinait: Motorcycle and Van Crash Claims One Life

One person was killed in a collision between a motorcycle and a van on the national highway in Barangay Pug-os, Sinait, Ilocos Sur.

The deceased has been identified as Jimson Vicente Claveria, a 40-year-old STL collector from Barangay Paratong, Sinait. He was riding a Honda Wave motorcycle without a helmet or reflectorized vest.

The driver of the Mercedes Benz 100 van, Leovino Antalan Peralta Jr., 29, hails from Barangay 14, Tartarabang, Pinili, Ilocos Norte.

According to Police Captain Bryan Romeo Lopez in an interview with Bombo Radyo Vigan, the van was heading north when the motorcycle, which was in the west outer lane, veered into the van’s path, which was also without functioning headlights, leading to the fatal collision.

As a result of the accident, Claveria sustained multiple injuries and was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

The van driver is currently cooperating with the Sinait Police Station to undergo the necessary legal processes.
