A man was shot dead by his uncle in Sta. Isabel, City of Ilagan, following a long-standing family feud.
PMaj. Juniel Perez, Deputy Chief of the Ilagan Police Station, revealed in an interview with Bombo Radyo Cauayan that the motive behind the crime was revenge.
According to police investigations, the family feud stemmed from a dispute over inheritance.
The conflict escalated on September 15, 2024, when cousins Reygun Mina, 34, and Nelmark Mina, 27, got into a fistfight.
Although the fight was broken up, Reygun’s uncle, Richard Mina, returned to Reygun’s home later that night at around 9 PM. Armed with an improvised shotgun, Richard shot his nephew.
The severe wounds sustained by Reygun led to his death while en route to the hospital.
Authorities arrested the suspect at his home shortly after the incident.
Richard Mina has since been charged with murder and remains in the custody of the Ilagan City Police Station.
